Revoltech 059 - ARX-8 LAEVATEIN [REVIEW]

Finished put every decals on RG RX 78-2. Very-very tiring work ^_^

Haven't got any time to take the pics yet, and it still need a final top coat.
Gunpla aside, I did a review about one of my revoltech collection to some online friends in a forum,
let me just put that review here (lazy...lazy.. XD)

Revoltech 059 - ARX-8 LAEVATEIN
Kaiyodo released this revoltech years ago, but lately ARX-8 was re-released with a new package to complement the recent release of revoltech Arbalest.
Taken from Full Metal Panic series, it's one of coolest revoltech (IMO) with most accessories.

THE BOX

Compared to other revoltech box, ARX-8's box is quite unique.
Wider, with large window to show the accessories given.
The box art is cool and quite informative.

ACCESSORIES

The accessories:
- 1 head with cooling wires
- 2 pairs of hands to hold the knifes & guns
- 1 left hand (open position)
- 1 pairs of Lambda Driver Canceller
- 3 robotic arms
- 2 anti-tank dagger
- 2 mono-molecular blade (folded, to put at the knee)
- 2 mono-molecular blade
- 2 grenades
- 1 canon shotgun
- 1 demolition gun (+ howitzer barrels & 2 magazine)
- stander

PROPORTION

The proportions are pretty good, though looks a bit plain without accessories attached.
I love the color scheme ^_^

WEAPONS

ANTI-TANK DAGGER

 76mm CANON
Pew pew pew... :D

MONO-MOLECULAR BLADE
Compared to the anti-tank daggers, this one is cooler and bigger.
Unlike the Arbalest's, the blades don't have scabbard,
but
can be folded (different parts) and stored in the knee.

CHEST ROBOT ARMS & ANTI SLAVE GRENADE
Interesting, but not too important :P

LAMBDA DRIVER CANCELLER
This parts give better appearance to ARX-8 (Gundam OO Riser???)
I don't understand why it called 'canceller'.
Maybe to prevent ARX-8's lambda driver from overload?

DEMOLITION GUN
The gun came in two pieces. The gun, and the howitzer barrel.
Without the barrel, it looks like a normal shotgun with oversized bullet magazine for me.
But with the howitzer barrel, this gun became waaaaay better :D

You can attach the demolition gun to the shoulder with the robot arms.

ARTICULATIONS
With about 15 joints, the articulations are quite good.
But because of some unusual joint positions, this figure feeled a bit flimsy
One of my favorite features: extra parts behind the legs.
It helps this figure to stand better, more stable, without the stander
(as you can see from the photos above, no stander used)

VERDICT
Cool design, quite neat paint-job (at least mine)
Great articulations and accessories
If you love revoltech, full metal panic series, and want a handful of accessories,
this one is worth having.

SD Unicorn Gundam, the white knight Glossy Build

This is my third SD kit since my initial two sangokuden kits (I forgot their name ^^;;). I did it in a day last weekend. It's a nice refreshing between big-complex-very-long-to-finish kit :p hehe..

This is actually worth the price. It has some transformation gimmick, transforming between normal and destroy mode. I still didn't have the chance to take photo of the gimmicks, maybe later.

And in addition few nice decals :D Although one bad note is that the decals size is too big because of the margin empty space. For example if you see on the shoulder, there are blue unicorn head marking and some words in red marking. This actually is overlapping each other on the empty space. I have to trim it with knife.

On building this kit, this time I have the chance experimenting with Future for top coat.
What is Future? Future is an acrylic based floor polishing. I read few article on internet that's its actually very good for top coat and produce glossy look. So I gave it a try, although I bought the future few months back but never had the chance (or guts) ^^
Below is the picture of the Future bottle.

Put just enough in a container.

And use brush to apply it to the kit. Depend on the size of the parts, choose the right brush size. Future has self leveling property, so do not afraid of applying to much.. And watch out for bubbles, be sure to wipe them. After applying, dry it on top of tissue or paper. Do not dry in a direct sunlight and windy place. After an hour or two, you can touch it. The result is quite good. I say it's better than using glossy top coat spray can (or I'm not doing it right hehe :p).

As a bonus, if you want to trim sprue left over from the runner after applying future. the trimming process is just smooth and easy :D  If you want a complete reference about future, read here.

I haven't do lining yet. It feels like ruining the gloss and glory hehe.. maybe not doing this time.
Thanks for reading ^^

RG RX 78-2 WIP3

Finally! All parts complete! ^__^

 Hands parts
Hand articulations. Superb, just like the legs.
That moving triceps armor reminds me of PG Strike arms.

Head parts. Quite detail, just like MG.
Even the yellow vulcans are separated.
I had a hard time with the eyes' stickers though.

Helloo there gramps  ^^!

Beam rifle parts
not much, but not as simple as usual HG rifles

Beam rifle

Bazooka parts
some parts remind me of Sinanju's bazooka and Ball's cannon :D

Bazooka

Shield parts
Simple...

The shield can dock the rifle and beam sabers
cool ^_^

Additional hands
two joints on all fingers? Wow!

Core fighter's parts

Nice little ship ^^
The cockpit can be opened!

Approximately 4 cm in length, and 3 cm in width

Folded core fighter

You can change the 'fake' gray core fighter with the real one
without sacrificing the waist articulation.
Any idea how to paint that tiny Amuro?
I gave up already >_<
Gundam  RX 78-2 complete!
Its design is a bit old-fashioned, but still menacing
(if you pose it properly of course!)

The hand can reach the beam saber at the backpack
(Ooops, I forgot to take pic of the beam sabers. But they're strangely long.
Even taller than the mobile suit itself!)

With all of its weapons: beam swords, beam rifle, shield, and bazooka.
But no spear and the morning star ~___~

I like this angle
Next: adding panel lines and stickers
frankly, I'm a bit lazy to do it, hahaha...

A little surprise:
Got this package today
Another pre-ordered item that came late
I don't even know what it is when I received it
(Jeez, how many item I pre-ordered last year? I should be more thrifty)

RG RX 78-2 WIP2

Managed to finish the waist and body ^_^ V

Crotch's parts.
The front and back armors are identical
and see those tiny red part?
One sneeze is enough to blow it to nowhere...

Waist's parts

 Lower body complete!

Body & backpack parts.
I never built an RX 78 before,
so I wonder how the core fighter will fit into that body?
The backpack has amazing detail & part separations
...and dangerously small parts too

Front body

The backpack

Only the arms, head, and weapons left...
